Ming’s formal introduction into the world of building
services, particularly the field of HVAC, came when he took
a job as an assistant mechanic in the summer of 1993. For
over two months, he assisted licensed contractors in the
installation of new air-conditioning equipments, ductwork,
and water heaters, as well as helped in repairing AHU, fan
coils, boilers, etc. This hands-on field experience
confirmed his desire to learn more about various mechanical
services that contribute to the well-being of a building and
the comfort of its occupants, and inspired him to pursue a
career in the engineering field.
At Sacramento Engineering Consultants, Ming’s duties include
project coordination with other disciplines, field
investigation, preparation of design drawings, calculations
and specifications, client contact and project development.
Ming has extensive experience in various applications of
mechanical systems: packaged and custom roof top units,
split heat pumps (DX and water source, variable air volume
systems, radiant floor heating, kitchen and auto shop
ventilation, steam boiler process heating, gas & electric
unit heaters, evaporative cooling, and closed-circuit
chilled water cooling.
Over the years, Ming has performed engineering calculations
for numerous types of buildings, both new and existing,
including office complexes, high-rise hotels & condominiums,
commercial real estate, dry-cleaners, schools, swimming pool
rooms, breweries and restaurants.
Ming also has a sound understanding of domestic and
commercial water services. His job responsibilities include
the coordination of site utilities with civil engineers and
utility companies to ensure adequate building water, sewer
and gas connections. His expertise in T24 energy compliance
issues helps clients minimize initial equipment cost and
construction cost. Combined with his familiarity with
applicable codes and regulations, Ming’s design embodies the
right mix of simplicity, functionality, practicality, as
well as energy efficiency.
